Orthodontics in Christchurch
Fall back in love with your smile, with straighter teeth achieved with Orthodontics
Many more patients, both children and adults, are looking to achieve a straighter smile. However, with a huge number of options when it comes to orthodontics in Christchurch and the surrounding area, you might be confused as to which option is best for you.
With an expert team of orthodontists here at Robinson’s Dental Practice in Christchurch, we can help you understand the difference between Aligners, Fixed Braces, Removable Braces, and more.
What is Orthodontics?
Orthodontics is a dental treatment that focuses on the alignment of the teeth and the bite. While braces are traditionally thought of as big metal wires across the teeth, this area of dentistry has come a long way in recent years, meaning options are now available for braces to be almost invisible to the eye.
At Robinson’s Dental Practice, we’re pleased to offer a range of orthodontic treatment options, with the chosen plan completely tailored to your individual needs.
Clear Aligners
Aligners, known to many as Invisalign®, is a method of treatment that gradually moves the teeth into alignment. Clear aligners are tailored to your teeth specifically, and have the benefit of being discreet and removable, so you can continue with daily activities such as eating and cleaning your teeth as normal.
Treatment for aligners can take anywhere between 6-12 months, depending on the severity of the case and how compliant the patient is with wearing their aligner trays.
Dental Monitoring
With modern technology as advanced as it now is, it is revolutionising the area of orthodontics for us as dentists and for our patients.
DentalMonitoring provides an efficient and convenient method of keeping up-to-date with orthodontic treatment in Christchurch. For our patients, DentalMonitoring provides the technology and tools to allow us to monitor your progress, whether you have aligners or braces, from the comfort of your home.

Fixed Braces
The more traditional method of orthodontics, fixed braces are commonly used for more comprehensive cases of teeth alignment. A patient may also be considered for fixed attachments if they aren’t suitable for clear aligners. While many refer to braces as “train tracks” still, the advancements in orthodontics now means less visible attachments and wires are available.
A fixed brace has a longer treatment time, taking anywhere between 12-24 months. More visits to your orthodontist are required for adjustments and tightening, usually every 4-10 weeks.
