Commit To Your Dental New Year resolutions
We are just one day away from the New Year, making it the perfect time to start manifesting those New Year’s resolutions!
As dentists, we love to hear our patients committing to maintaining good dental health for the year. Here’s a few dental resolutions to consider for the New Year…
Commit to your daily routine
Brushing our teeth is a simple quick task that can sometimes get forgotten, particularly during the holiday season where we fall out of our normal routine. Therefore re-committing to your daily dental routine is a great resolution to add to your list!
Get those check-ups organised
Start the year making sure you’ve got your routine dental check-ups in the diary – one every six months.
A routine visit to the dentist is ideal to ensure excellent oral health, give your teeth a good clean and identify any potential issues. By catching any issues early, we can save you from undergoing potentially longer procedures and greater cost.
Stay hydrated
Drinking enough water doesn’t just benefit your overall health – remaining hydrated has great benefits for your oral health also.
The general recommendation is to drink 6-8 glasses of water, or 1.6-2.5 litres per day. Drinking water helps to wash away bacteria from your teeth, which benefits your teeth from reducing the possibility of tooth decay and cavities.
Commit to stopping the bad habits
You know the habits we mean…biting your nails; using your teeth as a bottle opener; chewing ice cubes; brushing your teeth too hard.
Perhaps committing to stopping these habits can be added to your list of resolutions, to protect your teeth in the long run!
These are just a handful of excellent New Year’s resolutions you can add to your list!
